It looks like my day of being unlazy is starting to pay off. I got a call yesterday from one of the vet clinics I applied to. They wanted to set up an interview time. I scheduled it for Friday, failing to realize that duh, that's my birthday. But maybe they'll give me a birthday job that pays enough to cover the cost of gas since it's like 40 miles away. That would be sweet.

A month and a half after bumming around in the Fort, I'm finally getting off my ass and doing crap that's not painting or cleaning the house.
I've finished my resume, both the printed and online, and applied for two jobs today, one at the Wisconsin Humane Society as a wildlife rehabilitator (or any other sweet job they want to give me), and one at the Crawford Veterinary Clinic as a veterinary assistant (that hopefully does not have to answer phones or make phone calls).
I've also applied to the vet tech program at MATC and requested that all my transcripts be sent.
I could've been just a bit more productive if my printer worked though. Oh well.
Now I guess I need to figure out where and when I can take the GRE and start getting that ball rolling.
In other news, I'm getting a birthday KITTEN! I'm very excited, I've never gotten a birthday animal (that I can recall, at least). We'll be getting two kittens in the next week or so. One of them will be my birthday present and one will be Nick's. I can't wait. They're adorable.

Happy birthday, Tiggz!
The little bunny eating clovers in my yard also wishes you a happy birthday.

I bleached my hair last night. We're dying it red tonight. For the record, I cannot pull off blonde. I'm staying inside all day.

This weeks been a bit crazy. Thank god two out of the three big things I need to do are done. I am now married (on the 4th) and graduated (on the 5th). Now all I have to do is move to Wisconsin (on the 7th). Then I get a semi-break in which I have to unpack everything. But at least all I have to worry about now is packing and unpacking rather than classes, planning, finals, homework, etc.

So whatever the hell is going on in my head is a getting a little ridiculous. I was in the middle of riding D'Argo the other day, trying to get him to sustain a trot (something that actually takes a lot of work and concentration) and I had one of those intense dream flashback type things that I think might be a simple partial psychic seizure. It was ridiculous! I was in the middle of riding! I can handle it when I'm just sitting at the computer or taking a shower or getting ready in the morning or just lounging around, but c'mon! In the middle of effin riding! And just a couple weeks ago it happened while I was lunging Steel. I actually had to leave him in the arena and go sit in the tack room until it was done because I was having trouble following steel in circles around the arena. I'm about ready to do a lobectomy on myself. This is just getting irritating now.

Franzen is my favourite person this week. I'm glad he got the game winner, he deserved it. He'd been working his ass off. I'm also really happy to see that Lang finally got one, he just couldn't catch a break.
My rage against Calgary has subsided somewhat with our victory over them last night, however I'm still ready to eff up most of the team, including, but not limited to:
McLennan - he should've been expelled from the league, IMO, that was just completely unacceptable. I don't think fining him and the team at total of $150,000 and a five-game suspension is enough. His response to the ruling makes me even more pissed ""I'm surprised by the ruling but will adhere to it because of my respect for the league and the Flames' organization," McLennan said in a release. "My record as a professional athlete speaks for itself and indicates that there was never any intention to injure an opponent." Bull. Fucking. Shit. He had absolutely every intention of hurting Franzen as much as he could. God dam mother fucker.
Iginla - wtf, seriously you're the captain. You're supposed to set an example for your team, instead you're just acting like a whiny pussy who throws a tantrum when the game doesn't go your way. The Red Wings are better than your team, deal with it, work to be better or go home and be emo and cut yourself. I really couldn't care less, but you should at least show some fucking composure and class out there. That C isn't supposed to stand for child.
Conroy - Only 4 minutes for sending Holmstrom out of the game bleeding? are they kidding me?! That could've easily been his fucking eye. That son of a bitch deserves to be run down by my car.
Langkow - Fucking sucker punches Lebda taking him out of Sunday's game and doesn't even get a fucking penalty? Wtf. If one of our guys had done that he probably would've been suspended for the game with the way the refs were calling it.
Refs - speaking of the god damned refs. What the hell. It's like they were fucking trying to hand Calgary the game. Calgary must really give good head. Good thing we're so much better than them we won anyways. Fucking god damned refs. I could've called a better, less biased game than that and I CLEARLY have an extreme love of the Wings and an extreme hatred of Calgary.
All in all, despite crap calls, cheap shots, and injuries, the Wings have proven that they undoubtably better. The flames have proven that they have huge pussies, and are very good at sucking dick. The refs have proven that they like it.

I've come to the conclusion that biology has ruined me. I'm trying to write a "letter to the editor" for an assignment in my social sciences course, trying to prove that sustainable development is a utopian ideal, but finding sources to cite is a bitch. Nothing has facts. It's rare that an article will even have a bibliography. So I have to question the credibility of everything, even books written and published on the subject. In scientific writing you can't blow your nose without citing the kleenex box. I can no longer see how anyone ever proves anything without the data to back it up. It's a pain in the ass, let me tell you. An 800 word letter has turned into a three hour project already. Not including the time spent procrastinating. Damn you science, in all your logical glory. Damn you. If only I could prove biochemical pathways, genetic inheritance, and the biology of microorganisms by appealing to emotions, I'd be set. I could tell a nice little story about how light energy really wants to grow up to become ATP and CO2, so it dances in the chlorophyll and if it's good enough, bam. CO2 and ATP baby.

So here's an interesting tidbit, Mr. Fadoir now apparently teaches math at BHS. In an attempt to increase the amount of time I could waste, I sent him an e-mail to see how he was doing. I'm eagerly awaiting a response, which is also allowing me to procrastinate.

So, yesterday our bid got accepted on a house in Fort Atkinson, WI. Assuming everything goes smoothly with the inspection and such, we'll be moving in around May 7th. The house is a 7 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with a separate garage. It's 2500-3000 sqft. Pretty much huge. Especially as compared to the house I'm in now. Pictures are here: http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/JuviJoker/phase2/The%20Manor/
I'm going to have a sweet rodent room.

this is what it takes to close school. The government has to tell people not to drive before Tech will tell people not to come to campus.

So, I went to walmart and bought four things: a loaf of bread, a gallon of skim milk, a tub of margarine, and a box of wine. How's that for classy?
Well, shortly after returning home I decided I'd break out the wine because, well, it's cold and windy and wine makes you warm and helps fight colds. So, I open the box and end up slicing a one-inch gash in my palm with the corner of the cardboard. Smooth, eh? THEN I go to get a band-aid for it since it was bleeding kind of a lot and I gave myself a paper cut with the band-aid wrapper. That's how awesome I am.
Also, we have 35mph winds. We're under a blizzard warning. It's snowing like a mofo. If class isn't canceled tomorrow I'll...well, I'll just be angry and cold I guess.

My kitty is getting so cuddly lately. He now hops up and sleeps on my lap every morning while I drink my coffee and do internet stuff. It's adorable. I can't wait till i have like 10 of him sleeping all over me. It'll be like a kitty blanket. A warm, furry, purring, kitty blanket...
Its been snowing like a bitch all yesterday, last night, and this morning. Yesterday morning I left at 10:30 to go to the barn and the roads were all clear, it had just started snowing. When I left the barn at 1:00 most of US-41 was completely covered in snow. I really don't want to go outside and go to class today. It's going to suck. Damn you Tech and your lack of snow days.

It's so windy it feels like the house is going to fall down. I'm definitely not looking forward to going out to the barn. It's going to be cold. I'm actually not looking forward to any part of today at all. I've been so exhausted this week all I really want is a day to just sit around the house and do nothing. Unfortunately I can't. I have to go muck stalls and work Steel, then I need to go to the art lab and catch up on my paintings so I can pass advanced watercolor and actually get my minor, then I need to write up my paper for statistics, do my take-home test for environmental problems, do the homework problems for statistics, do the reading for cell biology and biochemistry, and I should really start doing some writing for my senior essay. And really, all I want to do is lay in bed all day. Oh well...at least we have internet back and I have my lovely new gerbil icon.
Post A Comment | Add to Memories | Tell a Friend | Link
Yay. New icon, finally. It's of two of my boys, Bloo (the black gerbie curled up on the left) and Lazlo (the black spotted gerbil laying down in the right). It was early in the morning so the sun was coming through the window above their tank. They were sleeping underneath their waterbottle and looking adorable. That big blob in the foreground is their rock. It helps to keep their nails filed down and prevent the bedding from becoming saturated should their waterbottle start leaking.
Well, back to work. I just had to show them off.

Man, I am exhausted. I went to bed at 9:00 last night after falling asleep on the couch and drooling all over nick at 8:00. It's ridiculous. This semester is going to kill me. Not only do I have 16 credits, but I'm working three jobs. I have yet to have one day where I can just sit and relax, except for that one saturday where I was so nauseated I couldn't walk up the stairs without throwing up, that wasn't exactly relaxing, and I was supposed to work that day, but I called in sick. I'm definitely in need of some kind of break here.
On the up side, Steel is doing really well. I've been lunging him three times a week in the arena, then last week I started lunging him with the surcingle on, just to get him used to it. Then last night we did something really scary. I hooked the long lines up and walked him around with them dragging behind. He wasn't too happy with that, but he didn't freak out, I was very proud of him. I think tomorrow I'm going to try ground driving him. He neck yields pretty well and unwinds himself beautifully when I walk around him with the lead rope, so I think he's ready to give ground driving a try. Once he's got that down we're going to exchange the surcingle for the saddle and ground drive him in that to get him used to having the saddle on. Based on his progress thus far, I think he'll be ready to be ridden in about a month and a half, I'm excited! This whole training thing is pretty fun, though really our training sessions are more like love sessions [in a non-interspecies erotica way]. I mostly make him go around in circles and then come stand in the center while I kiss him and tell him what a good boy he is.
Bah...I have to go to biochemistry now...I'm so not in the mood for class, but Dr. Adler will notice if I'm not there since I came into his other class earlier to talk to his students. Ugh, i just want to go back to sleep...

I'm in Berkley until New Years. I would like to see people, hang out, hopefully have some good times. Let me know if you're around and would like to do the same. Preferably with me, but if not that's cool, I'm a bitch, I know.

Woot! So my boss at the Chemistry department just e-mailed me to let me know I'm getting a raise next semester. $8.00 for doing a website. Which, really isn't a whole lot for website work, but it's a whole hell of a lot considering the fact that I'm a student working for the University.
I love raises.

People who don't show up for their shifts suck. I definitely don't want to be stuck in the bio learning center for three fricken hours because someone is irresponsible. Ah, fortunately the only person that is here (and who is currently keeping me here) is leaving soon. Awesome. Then I can leave and go home and be lazy until I have to come back here at four.
In other news my ego was recently hugely inflated. Last night I was at the stable working with Steel, the 2 year old gelding. I've already done a lot of work with his mom, and she's now somewhat rideable (but she's 19 and pretty darn stubborn, so I can only do so much). Anyhow, I was talking with Vickie about the other trainer who is working with her 3 year old gelding. Now, this trainer, we'll just call her Kay, came VERY highly recommended. She had a bunch of references that all said she was an amazing trainer. Well, so far, she hasn't done much with D'Argo, the horse she is supposed to be training. Apparently she hasn't had enough time to work with him a whole lot. So, Vickie went out to watch Kay work with D'Argo on Sunday. Apparently D'Argo is not respecting Kay at all, and she just lets him get away with it, she doesn't make him listen to her. So, Vickie and I were talking and she said, "you know, it's terrible, but you're going to have both Penny and Steel able to be ridden before Kay will have D'Argo rideable!". At that point I was like, "yeah, I'm awesome," in my head. The sad thing is, it's true. Especially with how responsive Steel is. Even when he's got some attitude he still listens really well and it takes only the slightest prompt to get him to do something. Except turn...yesterday he apparently forgot what to do when I asked him to turn, so we had to work on that for a while. But myeh, he's two. In my opinion he's doing exceptionally well especially for a two year old.
